Hi! I'm Vashon Borich-Leach (aka The T.U.F.F. Momma). I'm a polymath who enjoys sharing my experience as a digital entrepreneur, karate instructor, gourmet salt and pallet wood crafter, business coach, public speaker, author and animal lover. I live in Southern Missouri with my two sons, Ty and Jack, along with several animals that adopted me including my dangerously handsome husband, Ron. I hope to inspire you to be Tough, Unstoppable, Fearless and Free! (T.U.F.F.) Thank you for reading my blog posts!

We have an electronics abundance. The problem is all the outlets keep getting taken over by my family of four in the living room. However, I found a solution. I built a sofa table and charging station out of pallet wood. The best part is, I’ll show you how to build it, too. Here are the complete plans and video to help you knock this project out over the weekend. (You’re welcome.)

First of all, watch this short video to get an idea of the project:

Where’d I get such long pallet wood you may ask? There was a local apartment complex getting a new metal roof. I asked the general contractor on duty if I could have a few of his 13 ft long pallets. He said yes, and appeared to be happy to get rid of them. Thank goodness my husband has a full-sized pick up truck because these pallets were HUGE.

Here’s a quick video I shot to show you the BIG Momma of Pallets. It was so big it was hilarious!

Don’t fret if you can’t score a long pallet like I did. You could easily modify these plans to make a shorter table or piece together several pieces to make it longer. Different pieces and cuts of pallet wood could make for an interesting design.

Here’s what you’ll need to build your own Sofa Table & Charging Station

Expected build time including, sanding, stain and finish – 6 hours
Proficiency – Beginner to Intermediate Level Project

Pallets Needed: 1 BIG Momma Pallet or 2 regular-sized pallets

Tools & Supplies Needed:

  • Miter Saw, Table Saw, Band Saw and/or Handsaw
  • 2 Clamps (Who am I kidding? The more the merrier.)
  • Nail gun with 2″ and 1″ finishing nails (Or you can use a regular ole’ hammer and nails)
  • Hammer
  • Wood chisel
  • Tape Measure
  • Pencil
  • 150 Grit Sand paper and a sander
  • Stain and Polyurethane finish of your choice (I used Minwax Golden Oak 210B, sort of a honey color. I finished with Minwax semi-gloss clear polyurethane)
  • An electric power strip (Be sure to measure it as you may have to adjust the cut out and box holder sizes accordingly.)

Here is a pallet of the most popular Minwax stain colors.

As always, you’ll need to go ahead and deconstruct your pallets first. If  you are new to deconstructing pallets, here is the easy way.

The full pallet sofa table plans

What I recommend you do is measure the length of the couch you want this table to go behind and the height of the back of the couch as well. This way your table fits your living room perfectly! Note: I ended up changing these plans slightly because we have an air vent on the floor where this would sit. I placed the bottom board on top of the support blocks instead of underneath to allow for air flow.

The cuts you’ll need to make for the pallet sofa table

Remember you may need to adjust some of these cuts depending on the size of your sofa and if you had access to a very long pallet. Most pallets produce a maximum of 32″ long boards.
